University of Chittagong
University of Chittagong (University of Chittagong) (briefly chobi) University of Bangladesh, a government multi-faculty-based research university located in Chittagong. It was established in Hathazari upazila of Chittagong district in 1966. It is the country's third and largest university in terms of area of ​​campus. There are about 22,000 students and 687 teachers.
Prior to achieving Bangladesh's independence, this university became the focal point of progressive and democratic movement in East Pakistan. At that time the university teachers and students played a central role in the rise of Bengali nationalism and the achievement of Bangladesh's independence.
At present, there are 21 educational institutions under Chittagong University. The University located in the hilly areas of Chittagong is a natural beauty resort. Here is the largest library library in Chittagong. There are many prominent teachers and learners in this university who have been educating and teaching, among which 1 are the Nobel Laureates and many Ekushey Padak winners. Among the other universities in the world, the rank of Chittagong University 4682 and its ranking among the other universities of the country is ranked 14th. Location:
Chittagong University is about 22 km from Chittagong city, 1753.88 acres of hilly and flat land in Jangal West-Patti mouza of Fatehpur Union in Hathazari thana. On 18 November 1966, the university officially started.
History:
Because there is no university in Chittagong division at the beginning of the twentieth century, residents of Chittagong felt locally needed for a university. On 28 December 1940, Jamiat-e-Ulami held the All India Conference of All India in Maulana Muniruzzaman, in the speech of Islamist President, presented a 'Islamic University' in Chittagong region and for the same purpose, he purchased land for the construction of university at Dang Hill of Anowara upazila of Chittagong. Two years later, on February 28, 1942, Noor Ahmad raised a formal demand for establishment of a university in Chittagong on the Bengal Legislative Assembly.
In the sixties, when the formation of Pakistan's second five-year plan (1960-1965), a decision was taken to establish a 'University of Science' in Chittagong. And as the site of construction of the university, Chittagong Government College, located in the city center, was selected as a possible campus. In 1962, the then Deputy Director of Public Education of East Pakistan, Mohammad Ferdous Khan, made an initial draft plan for the establishment of Chittagong University. Fazlul Quader Chowdhury made a general commitment to establish this university in the same year, 1962 election campaign. And after the election, when he was elected the Central Education Minister, he took a formal initiative to establish a university in Chittagong.
After the initial decision to set up this university at Chittagong Government College was changed, on May 7, 1961, a protest meeting was held at the local Muslim community in Chittagong. At the meeting, Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah expressed his opinion in favor of establishing a University in Chittagong and in the speech of the Chief Guest, he formed the Chittagong University Struggle Council to implement it. Later on 30 December, another council was formed in 1962 by the name 'Chittagong University Student-Struggle Council'. These organizations organized communication and memorandum, seminars and seminars on different aspects of the organization. A public meeting was held on 9 December 1962 at Laldighi Maidan under the initiative of the Sangram Parishad. On 8 January 1963, the strike was celebrated in the education institute of Chittagong under the leadership of Chhatra Sangram Parishad.
On 29 November 1963, Fazlul Quader Chowdhury was elected the Speaker of the Pakistan National Assembly. Initially, in order to establish this university in Sylhet, Comilla and Noakhali, on 12 December 1963, in the absence of President Ayub Khan, during a cabinet meeting, Fazlul Quader Chowdhury asked the central education minister ATM Mostafa to take necessary steps to set up the university from Comilla to Chittagong. In the meeting of a National Economic Council held in its chairmanship on 9 March 1964, the necessary funds for the construction of the University of Chittagong were granted. After that, the University's Vice-Chancellor Dr M Osman Gani was elected as Chairman and Dr. Kudrat-e-Khuda, Dr. Mohammad Shahidullah, M. Ferdous Khan and Dr. Mafizuddin Ahmed as the 'Venue Election Commission'. The Commission recommended monitoring the deserted hilly land of Jungle West-Patti Mauza of Fatehpur Union under Hathazari upazila as a proposed university. In the chairmanship of Fazlul Quader Chowdhury, Pakistan's temporary President, Fazlul Quader Chowdhury, in the chairmanship of the Pakistan National President of Pakistan on 17-19 July 1964, the decision to set up Chittagong University on the basis of the recommendation of the 'Venue Election Commission' was finalized and its final approval was granted. On 29 August 1964 Pakistan President Ayub Khan is the founder of Chittagong University Chap.
On December 3, 1965, Professor of History Department of Rajshahi University and former Curator of Varendra Research Museum. Azizur Rahman Mallik was appointed as Project Director of Chittagong University. After that Azizur Rahman Mallik set up Chittagong University project office in a building named 'Kakasan' on Road 3 of Nasirabad Housing Society of Chittagong city. On 14 December 1965, a government notification said that all the officials of the University's Department of Pakistan's Directorate of Education were transferred to the Chittagong University Project Office. A master plan of the university was created through the institution of 'Bastakala' by architect Mazharul Islam. Initially 1 double administrative building, divisional office, classrooms and libraries have also been set up for building single-storey buildings as well as accommodation for teachers and students.
University Museum:
On 14 June 1973, the activities of Chittagong University Museum started with four cannons of medieval period. At present, there are several ancient stone sculptures and a cannon with many sculptures of sandstone in this museum. The museum building is divided into five galleries. Where: Contemporary Art Gallery, Prehistoric and Archaeological Art Gallery, Sculpture Gallery, Gallery of Folk Art and Islamic Art Gallery.
An ancient inscription in the twelfth century is at the entrance to the main hall of the museum. Here are stoneware paintings, Buddhist figures, 10-15 Vishnu images of medieval times, weapons of arms used in soldiers, various coins, ancient books, musical instruments, abstracts of different kinds of idols, and cinnamon pots etc. are preserved here from Pahapur in the eighth century. In the contemporary art gallery, there are paintings of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin, Kamrul Hasan, Rashid Chowdhury, Zia Uddin Chowdhury, Nitin Kundu Chowdhury paintings and Syed Abdullah Khaliad. [12] The prehistoric and archaeological art gallery contains ancient paintings, fossils, and earth statues. In the sculpture gallery there are wooden idols from the 8th to 12th centuries, Vishnuprhti, Shivalinga etc. There are huge collections of copper, brass and aluminum utensils, cane baskets, clay sculptures, clay dolls, etc. in the folk art gallery in the seventeenth and eighteenth century. The Islamic Art Gallery contains pictures of Mughal empire, gold and silver coins, handwritten Quran, medieval weapons, ancient mosques and their ruins.
The museum is open to viewers on all open days.
Zoological Museum:
It is located at Chittagong University. In 1973, this museum was established as a subsidiary of the University of Zoology in support of the curriculum of Zoology. There are approximately 540 samples stored in this museum. Of these, the number of animals is 57 and the number of formalin (wet reserve) samples is 485.
Sea resources museum:
The museum has been built in a room of Chittagong University's Marine Science Institute. Here, 550 species of marine animals have been preserved. Starting from sharks, there are numerous wonderful biodiversity, including electric fish, azab shankar, octopus, snail and snakes.

Memorial monument:

In 1971, in the Chittagong War of Liberation, a total of 15 freedom fighters including a teacher, 11 students and three officers and employees of the University of Chittagong were commemorated as memorials of heroism. Kar Di-ud-Daulah, Nazim Uddin, deputy assistant engineer prabhasa Kumar Barua and Syed Ahmed guards.
Intellectual monument:
On the opposite side of the university's Shaheed Minar is the intellectual monument. The sculpture was set up in memory of intellectuals killed in the liberation war of Bangladesh. The location of the pillar is known as the intellectual premises. Designed by renowned artist Rashid Chowdhury. Established in 1985, this monument is now considered to be the creative work of Chittagong University
Central Shaheed Minar:
The central Shaheed Minar is located on the opposite side of the intellectual monument. It was established in 1993.
Freedom memory murals:
The position of the sculpture in front of the Faculty of the Arts of the University. It was built by singer Murtaza Bashir, a renowned artist and teacher of the Department of Fine Arts of Chittagong University. Syed Saiful Kabir, a teacher of the Institute of Fine Arts of the University, designs the sculpture. The sculpture of 4 birds in the sculpture has been enhanced by the formation of six points of Bengalis and the sequence of freedom movement and 21 pieces of stone in the wings of the birds. The basic foundation of the Vaskirti has been written on the National Flower Shapla of Bangladesh. On 25 March 2010, the Vice Chancellor of the University Abu Yusuf, and Vice-Chancellor Mohammad Alauddin inaugurated it.

There are currently 12 residential halls of the University of Chittagong, out of which 7 are students' halls and 3 student halls and two undergraduate students and students. There are also 1 hostel in the university.

Chittagong University Medical Center:
University Medical University is located near University of Law Faculty. It works to provide free medical services and pathological examinations for university students, teachers and employees. Besides, free medical care is also provided to the family members of teachers and employees. This medical center has a full day-to-day service service, where doctors provide medical services in turn. There are 11 doctors and 4 ambulances in this center. There are also 6 temporary beds in the medical center premises
Natural beauty:
Lilabhumi of Chittagong University Campus Natural Sunderland. The university campus has zigzag, mountainous paths, various species of trees and wild animals. Often the university's cut hills, behind the Faculty of Commerce, and other natural environments, including forestry, have small reddish brown aubergine Maya deer. These maya deer are dazzling and shy in nature. However, the actual number of these deer is not known. The faculty of arts and humanities is also behind the scenic mountain fountains.
