Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology
Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (English: Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology; RUET) is a leading engineering education institute in Bangladesh. It is the second oldest university in Bangladesh and the only Northern University of Engineering.
Campus:
RUET campus is 3 km from the city of Rajshahi. The east flowing arrow is located on the bank of the Padma. Prior to that, the University of Bangladesh's traditional Bidapitha Rajshahi University. The area of RUET campus is 152 acres. It has a residential area of department buildings, laboratories, workshops, libraries, gymnasiums, central general rooms, cafeteria, residential residences of students, teachers and employees. Kantakhali Northern Power Station, which has 50 MW power generation capacity of five km west from Ruetgate, is located.
History:
In December 1964, he started his career as a faculty of engineering under Rajshahi University with 122 students named Rajshahi Engineering College. At that time, honors degrees were given under the mechanics, civil engineering and electrical engineering department. But due to administrative difficulties its educational activities were hampering. Because the administration was controlled by the Ministry of Education; The academic curriculum was decided by the Public Works Department of Rajshahi University and the infrastructural development was controlled. To solve this problem some commissions and committees were formed in 1973. Based on the recommendation of this commission and committee, the historic decision to give autonomy to four engineering colleges of the country was accepted. For this, a strong 15-member committee was constituted under the leadership of the then Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering, Dr. Wahid Uddin. The committee formed the Bangladesh Institute of Technology (BIT) in July 1986, together with the four engineering colleges of the country. But due to some constitutional limitations of limited autonomy and BIT ordinance, the development of this organization was being interrupted. At that time, the need for conversion of BITs into full-fledged universities came to an end. Consequently, on 1 September, 2003, it was converted into Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) by passing the university bill in the Jatiya Sangsad. At present, about 3,000 students studying in the university, graduate and post-graduate levels of engineering, technology and city planning. The total number of teachers is more than two hundred.

Facilities:
Library:There are 5 storey libraries here. The library has helpful books for students of all departments.
Medical center:
The medical center is located in front of the Shaheed Lieutenant Selim Hall. Under the supervision of two MBBS doctors, the medical center developed with medical officers and employees cured the students of all physical illnesses. Free medicines are provided to the sick students here. Besides, the medical center has an ambulance itself for emergency needs.
Computer center:
There is a very modern computer center in every divisional building.
Auditorium:
There is a 700-seat air-conditioned modern auditorium beside the RUET administrative building, where international seminars and conferences are held alongside the university's own programs. Each department also has its own seminar room and conference hall.
Gymnasium:
In front of Shahid Shahidul Islam Hall there is a modern gymnasium with the convenience of regular students for RUET and indoor games.
