Rajshahi Government City College


Rajshahi Government College, a government college located in Rajarshata area of Rajshahi city. It was founded in 1958 and nationalized in 1982. About 6500+ people studying in the University.

History:

At the beginning of the college's journey it had no own building. Classes were taken at Loknath High School premises. In 1958, 0.50 acres of land was purchased at the center of the town at 18,000 rupees. A prominent scholar, Acting Principal of Rajshahi Government College, Mohammad Abdul Karim became the founding Principal of the College.

In 1958, the college started with 140 students and students showed courage and discipline to continue their class classes in the night division, and in the next year, in 1969, the total number of students was increased to 3500. In the initial stage, the college teacher structure was an honorary principal, four full-time professors, two part-time professors from Rajshahi University and three part-time from Rajshahi College and a part-time teacher from the local bar.

The college was getting established every day. The college's own library was very important. College libraries were established in 1999 with the purchase of 400 dakha books with Tk 3075 / - in 1999.

Rajshahi Government City College's commemorative year began in the year 1950. The University of Rajshahi, 1960, gave affiliate order for 3 years. It is worth mentioning that in 1963, Rajshahi University showed great sympathy by granting affiliation to high school opening in night and day-to-day colleges. In 1968, the social science curriculum was opened in the Higher Secondary School and in 1973 the Honorary Class was opened in Bengal.

When it comes to the development of the college, it is only to say that a double-decker building is built on the south side of the college premises at a cost of Rs.1,00,000 / -. Mr. PA, Chairman of the District Commissioner and College Governing Body of that time. Najir extended his hand to the development of the college extensively. A one-acre land adjacent to the college was acquired in 1967. At that time, the Western Block of the College was constructed at a cost of Rs. 3,50,000 / - by the Government of Pakistan. In 1976, Rajshahi Development Board approved a grant of 150,000 rupees for the development of the college. Immediately after the establishment of the government, the government college under the development project was given Tk 5 lakh for the construction of the South Block of the college. Although there is a hostel of the college at the rented house, the new hostel building has been constructed at that time.

Md. Shamsuddin Ahmed, renowned scholar, worked as an honorary principal of the college till 1963. Then the vice president. M. Abdul Latif served as the Principal until February 1974. From 1977 to April 1980, Mr. Md. Abdullah was appointed as the Principal of the College.

Admission at the Higher Secondary level:

Higher Secondary level admission: Students are admitted on the basis of SSC or equivalent examination results. Merit determination will be based on the total number obtained. There are 1200 students admitted in three departments this year.

  • Business Education (Seat 300)

Graduation (Honors) admission:

Under the National University, the second year bachelor (honors) in the secondary/equivalent and higher secondary/equivalent examination in the second grade subjects with minimum GPA 2.00 students will be able to apply. Students are admitted on the basis of SSC and HSC results without admission test.
