Notre Dame College


Notre Dame College is a high school educational institution located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. This is one of the best colleges in Bangladesh where BA There are also opportunities for reading. The Notre Dame College was established by the priests of the Holy Cross organization. In 2009, the college completed 60 years. Currently, it is located at Motijheel-Arambagh near Kamalapur railway station.

History:

In November 1949, the Notre Dame College was established by the Roman Catholic Church in Laxmibazar on the decision of the Holy Cross in Dhaka city. Initially, St. Gregor's College was known as, which was enlarged by St. Gregor's school. In 1954 it was transferred to Arambagh. It was named after Notre Dame College.

The college initially started studying arts and commerce but BA in 1955 and B.Sc. started in 1960. In 1950, in association with the University of Notre Dame College, Dhaka, he achieved tremendous success in the examination of various universities of East Pakistan in 1959 and was recognized as the best college of East Pakistan.

Naming, Principles, and Symbols:

The word 'Notre Dame' of the Notre Dame College has been taken from two French languages. In English, whose translation is 'Our Lady' Roman Catholics interpret the 'Our Lady' of Jesus Christ's mother Maria or Marie. This college, therefore, run by the Catholics, is dedicated to the noblewoman. 

The basic principles of college are Diligite Lumen Sapientiae, whose translation is Love the Light of Wisdom. In Catholicism, Mother Mary of Jesus Christ is the symbol of wisdom. The word "Sapientiae" refers to the main objective of the college, to achieve the source of knowledge and the source of knowledge. Indicates the term "light" (lumen) to eliminate darkness and to make a difference between truth and false. And the word "love" refers to the acquisition of knowledge with the word love. 

At the top of the Notre Dame College symbol, there is an open book, on the left page, the Greek alphabet 'alpha' (Α) on the upper roof and the big roof 'omega' (Ω) on the right sheet. Alpha-omega is the Greek alphabet, the first and the last letters respectively. This also summarizes the whole knowledge and a statement of Jesus in the Revival chapter of the Bible. Besides, the book is the vehicle of knowledge. Collectively these symbols are published: All knowledge acquired through the ages has been stored in the book and if it can be achieved, then life will become enlightened. The bottom of this symbol has three fields. In the case of the left, there are 7 Flu delis; The word "flu de-lis" means the word 'lotus'. The Padma is the symbol of purity. Jesus' mother Mary was clean and holy like the lotus. The seven griefs of the life of Marie have been revealed by the symbol, 7 Padma. In the memory of the seven tragic events of his life, he is said to be "mother of seven hundred". These symbols allude to difficult learning together. The river's right-backed river, running boats, golden paddy fields and uninterrupted sesame-shaped scenes of green-green Bangladesh face the position of the college. In the lower field, the Cross placed on two anchors placed in a crossroads symbolizes the Holcrass monk-association. This symbol is adorned by: Stripped by the cross on the Cross as the death of Jesus Christ gave mankind freedom, so it is possible to get rid of crucified Jesus as an anchor. Anchor symbol of hope. The light that spreads around the cross, symbolizes the light and generosity of Jesus Christ.

Description and Description:

Noted Dame College, run by Roman Catholics, but all religious students get the chance to study here. Only students can study in college, there is no place for girls here. The college is managed by the Holy Cross Sannyasi-Samadha Pagoda. The Father of the Saints-Congregation operates North Dame University in North America, University of Portland, King's College, Stonehenge College, and St. George's College in Santiago, Chile, South America. There is a non-vegetarian teacher in the college, besides the Sannyasa-Bharati priest.

Library:

In the beginning of the college, in the year 1949, the library was established within the college, whose former name was, "Saint Gregor's College Library" in the former name of the college. Later, in 1954, when the name of the college was changed to the Notre Dame College, the name of the library was changed to "Notre Dame College Library". When the construction of the new building (Ganguly building) of the college began on August 21, 1995, it was dedicated to the memory of Father Richard Novak, the former Professor of Logic of the College, and CSC, "Father Richard Novak Memorial Library".

During the communal riots in 1964, Father Novak was brutally murdered on the way while traveling on a bike to find a distressed family. Father Richard Novak's elder brother, Michael Novak, donated many books of his collection to this library and has been making regular donations for the library. He also contributed to the construction of new libraries. There is a total of 130 seats in the library on the fourth floor of Archbishop Ganguly Bhaban. Along with college admission, students became members of the library and got the library card. There are 6 daily newspapers, 4 weekly and 4 monthly magazines held regularly in the library. Besides, many important journals and magazines are kept irregularly. Books can be borrowed in the context of library cards, but rare books such as dictionaries, encyclopedia, handbook etc. are used only in the library. There are photocopies in the library.

Sport:

Notre Dame College has kept talent in college level at different times. In the college premises, there is a huge ground for outdoor play facilities like football, cricket etc. There are also basketball fields. A game-equipment-credit-office-office has to give facilities to college students. There students can collect various types of sports items for free to display their college ID cards.

Religion Studies:

Because of the Catholic priesthood, the college students of the college have to participate in special prayers every Sunday. However, all religious students are in full freedom college of their respective religion. In the college premises, there is a single-story Panjigana Mosque and Oukhkhana in the garden beside the basketball field. Besides, there is a religious library on the ground floor of the Ganguly building of the college. There are books of all religions reserved.

It is managed by the Catholic Father, according to the Order of Dhaka Holy Cross. Since the establishment, 10 priests were the principal of this college.

Educational aid activities:

In addition to the study, special education activities were also given special importance in Notre Dame College. For this reason, as well as achieving good results in the higher secondary examinations every year, the students of this college have been earning energetic success in various competitions organized among the educational institutions of the country.

Clubs of Notre Dame College:

There are currently 23 clubs in the Notre Dame College (2017). Although the teachers of college have been working here as moderators, the students are the life of these clubs. Throughout the year, these clubs have been working to improve college students through organizing various programs and taking activities. Some of the programs and programs organized by these clubs have now been recognized as national level events. Participation of various colleges and educational institutions in the country gives differentiated activities.

Notre Dame Debating Club:

In 1953, Professor Richard William William, Team of the Department of Biology of the College was the CSC, the founder of this club, the moderator. Father Tim is a renowned biologist of the subcontinent, Magsaysay Award winner and Father of Nematoda.
The club's annual franchise is two-fourths. The club also publishes a debate named Droh every year. The club organizes various programs, including Debtor's League, Mix-Up, Inter-Group Debate, Conversions, every year.

Notre Dame Science Club:

Notre Dame Science Club Father R. W. Team, CSC established in 1955. "The Science of Human Services" This is the main focus of this club. It is the first science club in Bangladesh. In 2005, its 50-year anniversary was held, and in 2016, for 60 years the club's publications are Adri, Cosmos, Sputnik, Discovery. The three quiz teams of this college are managed by NDC Gold, NDC Blue, and NDC Green Notch Dm Science Club.

Notre Dame Alumni Association:

The NDMA started the journey on January 30, 2011, and the NDMA, in a nutshell. However, in the year 1959, former students of the Notre Dame saw the dream of an organization of the Old Boys College to be associated with Christian initiation and ideology. In the same context, the then Principal Father J. L. Martin, CSC created a draft constitution as part of this initiative. In the year 1999, during the celebration of 50 years of college (golden jubilee) and 60 years (diamond jubilee) in the college, students were re-encouraged, the then Principal Father Benjamin Kasta, CSC, on January 30, 2011, organized a meeting with 16 former students of the college. Announced. Then the college's former student said. Perera, CSC, was organized by the Ad-Haq Committee, comprising a total of 19 members, organizing the organization.  After the formal campaign of the organization's journey, on December 22, 2012, the annual general conference of the college premises was organized. Notre Dame Literacy School:

Notorment College, which is not directly involved with Notre Dame College, is Notre Dame Literacy School, which is basically a night school. The project is part of the Notre Dame College 'Student Working Program'. Established in 1972, however, from 1978 onwards, the teaching of working and underprivileged children is going on here. This school was established with the help of the Father as part of the social welfare program. Initially, there was a chance to read up to the fifth class, but it was upgraded to the eighth grade. Currently (about 2012) about 450 students are studying here. Apart from this, many people also qualify to study at Notre Dame College. Originally students of Notre Dame College are teaching themselves willingly. Apart from Notre Dame College, many teachers of the university also taught many teachers. The management expenses of this organization were executed by college teachers, students, and various donations. In order to keep students free from inferiority, a little salary is also paid to them. The school also has Morning Shift, Day Shift, and Evening Shift. Apart from this, Notre Dame Jagarani Co-operative Credit Union Limited, Notre Dame Navin Seek Shelter, Notre Dame Feeding Program, Notre Dame Sewing Center, and Notre Dame Boy 'Home.
