Dhaka University
University of Dhaka (short, DU, or DU) is an official university of Bangladesh located in Shahbagh, Dhaka; which is known as multi-faculty-based research university. It was established in 1921 under the Oxbridge Education System in British India. Initially, it was recognized as the Oxford of the East in terms of being strictly regulated by various renowned scholars and scientists.

The university doors were opened for students on 1st July, 1921. At that time Dhaka University was established in the most elite and beautiful Ramna area of about 600 acres of land, in the pleasant environment of East Bengal and the abandoned Bhabnadi of Assam Province and the buildings of Dhaka College (current Curzon Hall). This day of establishment is celebrated as "University of Dhaka Day" every year.
Its journey started as a residential university with three faculties and 12 departments. The Faculty of Arts, Science, and Law included Sanskrit and Bangla, English, Education, History, Arabic, Islamic Studies, Persian and Urdu, Philosophy, Economics and Politics, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Law.
In the first session, the number of students in different departments was 877 and the number of teachers was only 60. The students of Dhaka College and Jagannath College (present Jagannath University) in the Degree class started with the students of Dhaka University. The two colleges of this university were named after Dhaka Hall (now Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah Hall) and Jagannath Hall as grateful for this cooperation.

- Education and Research Institute: The Institute was established in 1959 with the help of the Colorado State College (now University of Northern Colorado) with the help of USAID as the first institute of Dhaka University with the aim of developing qualified teachers, academics and educators for the development and modernization of the education sector of the country. The active political student organizations of the university are Bangladesh Chhatra League, Bangladesh Student Federation, Bangladesh Student Union, Socialist Student Front, Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, Nationalist Students Party, Revolutionary Chhatra Shantrai etc. Among the notable cultural organizations are, Pratap, Dhaka University Film Parliament, Charan Cultural Center, Dhaka University Photographic Society, Dhaka University Debating Society, University of Dhaka Tourism Society, Dhaka University IT Society (DUITS), Dhaka University Science Society, Science Movement Mancha, Bangladesh Open Science Organization , Stopping, cultural union etc. Moreover, the sweetest canteen is the most famous of the various cafeterias of Dhaka University.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor:

Convocation:
On 1 July 1921, after the academic program of the University of Dhaka, the first regular convocation of the University was held in the British period on 22 February 1923. Then from 1924 to 1946, every year (total 24 times) convocation was held. The last convocation of the British period was held on November 21, 1946. The first convocation of Dhaka University was held on 24 March 1948 during the Pakistan period. Then there were 15 more convocations until 1970. The last convocation of Pakistan was March 8, 1970; It was the University's 39th convocation. The first time (40th) convocation was to be held after independence on August 15, 1975. The convocation of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, President of the University of Acharya, was to be inaugurated; But before that, the brutal assassination happened in the early hours, tragedy on 15th August.
